Next Volunteer Training Announced

Join the Hospice Atlanta volunteer community and discover how fulfilling it can be.

TRAINING AND ORIENTATION -- No hands-on care or previous experience necessary, but we do require you to attend our orientation. The next one takes place January 21st and 22nd, 2012, 9AM-4PM each day, 1244 Park Vista Drive NE, Atlanta. For more information, contact Ann.Serrie@vnhs.org, 404-848-7955.

Opportunities exist all across metro Atlanta: at the Hospice Atlanta Center, in the homes of families dealing with a life-limiting illness, and in assisted living communities:

Greet visitors at the beautiful Buckhead Center, or help the friendly team in the administration offices.

Play the piano – our lovely baby grand has been neglected! Contribute your musical skills to entertain and comfort our patients and families.

Join our new knitting group – when families are coping with a loved one’s terminal illness, they may spend hours, days or weeks at the Center. Help them pass the time as a founding member of our new knitting group.

Host teas for families in the beautiful library. Visit with patients and families in their homes – listen to their stories, hold their hand.

Say a prayer – join our spiritual care group.

Speak to the community – our speakers’ bureau is always looking for outgoing volunteers to give presentations about hospice to community organizations.

Help with fund-raising events – the Big-To-Do and our annual Hospice Atlanta Gala (link) are wonderful events that always need volunteer support.

Spend a weekend with the kids – at Camp STARS for Families (March) and Camp STARS for Children (November), volunteers help with various fun activities at Camp Twin Lakes in Rutledge, GA.
